Arcade stitch tutorial – This is a really pretty stitch with an open design making it a great stitch to use on things like scarfs and shawls.

It may seem like it will be a little complicated at first, simply because it follows a pattern of 4 rows which are repeated to make this lovely design… But in fact, it really is quite easy to follow along with this arcade stitch tutorial which includes photos

In this tutorial we’ll be using US terms, I have put the UK conversion in brackets to refer to

  • single crochet ( = UK double crochet )

  • double crochet  ( = UK treble crochet )

  • chain stitches.  ( = UK chain stitch )

You can crochet this up in any yarn of your choosing, but here I have used  acrylic, double knit, peach shade, and a 4.5mm hook.

Step 3.  Continue the sequence of making 3 chain stitches… missing 3 stitches… then making 1 single crochet stitch in each of the next 3 stitches… You’ll finish this row with 1 single crochet in each of the last 2 stitches.

That completes your set up row… We won’t be repeating this row again.
