So you want to start a blog? I’m going to help you every step of the way with this step by step beginner’s guide to starting a blog!
I’ve been crafting since I was a child, so we can safely say a loooong time 😀 … I’ve always enjoyed making gifts for friends and family because when I was growing up we used to make gifts in our family instead of buying them because there certainly wasn’t a lot of money around, so we made the most of what we had.
I always enjoyed crafting, but as I got older it really turned into quite a passion of mine. I really wanted to be able to “turn my passion into profit” so that way I could do more of what I love instead of going out to work in a ‘conventional’ job and struggling to find time to do my crafts.
I’m really pleased to be able to say that my crafting, which is my passion, is also my full time income! I know there are so many people that want to be able to do the same thing… And you can! 🙂
There really has been no better time than right now to “Turn your passion into profit!”
In this age of the blogger, it really is very easy to set up your brand new internet based business! Yes, it really is very easy to get started, and I’ll guide you through it step by step.
I started making money from my blog in the first month… Admittedly it was only £275… But it was enough to make me realise how I could build on it and turn it into something much, much bigger… Boy was I excited! And I still am!
It took me a long time to start my first blog! Well to be more precise… I wasted far too much time just thinking about blogging! I thought I wasn’t computer savvy enough to be able to do it… I was sure I would have to hire someone to build it for me, and then I would come along and post on it! … Actually, hiring someone to get you started with building your blog, is a really good idea if that’s stopping you getting started.
I really didn’t have a clue how it all worked, and that put me off even trying! I really wish I’d had this How to start a blog guide back then!
When I eventually took the plunge, I realized I could do it… And then I realized I can make a decent living from it too! And now, I’ve learnt so much about it I’m able to help you make that jump too… It really is very easy!
Have You Ever Thought…
I’ve wanted to be a blogger for ages, but I just don’t know where to start!
I want to start a blog, but I don’t know what to write about!
Why can’t we earn a living doing what we love?
Why do we have to go out to work and spend 40 plus hours a week making money for a big corporation?
Why do we have to go back to work and leave our babies for someone else to look after?
Why can’t we work the hours we want, so it fits around our family time?
I love doing crafts, but it will never pay the bills… Will it?
If any, or all of the above rings true for you, then don’t wait any longer… I waited far longer than I should have!
Please don’t put it off any longer… My blog has changed my life and that of my family far more than I ever thought it would… We’re able to do more things together now because I work the hours that work best for us! I’m more content, because I’m able to do what I love doing, rather than going out to work just to bring a wage home… And… I earn more from my blog, than I did going out to work for someone else!
It really can work for you too, you can actually start your business for just a few dollars a month! That is such a small investment for a business that can completely turn your life around!
If you want your blog to earn you money, then you do have to put the work in… But this is your adventure, so it’s up to you how much time you put into it… But keep in mind, the more you put into it, the more rewards you will get from it!

Starting A Blog Here.
So, you’re ready to start your new blog right! Well the first thing you need to do is choose a name for your blog. This is your Domain Name, so put some thought into it now as this is going to be around for a long time. You might already have a name in mind, but if not here are some simple tips;
Make it relevant to you and your new brand
Given the choice, I personally would always choose .com before .co or .net because I think it looks more professional.
Keep it simple with no fancy characters that make it difficult for people to remember.
Imagine trying to tell someone the name of your blog when you’re talking to them on the phone… You need them to be able to get it straight away.
Put the name into Google to make sure nothing comes up that could harm your brand image.
Step 1: Choose a Hosting Plan
SiteGround has three plans and everyone can sign for any of them with a great discount through any of the links on the page.
So now you have your Domain Name you’re ready to get your web hosting!
What is web hosting?
Well, simply put, it’s where your website will be stored on the internet by a company that provides the technology and services needed for your blog to be viewed.
The web hosting that I highly recommend is SiteGround. The reasons I recommend them so highly;
- I use SiteGround and have never had a problem with them.
- Their customer service is excellent if you ever need to get in contact with them.
- They are perfectly set up for blogging sites and by far the easiest to use.
You can choose to buy a new domain, or sign up with an existing domain.
They offer a wide range of domain extensions at awesome prices.
Step 2: Enter Your Domain Name
Step 3: Review and Complete the Order
Unlike many other hosting providers, SiteGround’s advertised discount applies to any of the initial periods chosen during the sign up process, in comparison to other providers where the lowest monthly price applies only for the longest period. So the initial outlay for setting up your business is greatly reduced.
Just follow the steps outlined above, it really is that simple to get started.
